To mark International Day of Peace, the 5th Art for Peace Festival – under the slogan of ‘Imagine Peace’ – will be held in the Iranian capital city of Tehran from September 12-22.
Festival goals include using art as a means to promote the culture of peace, creating a platform for local artists to interact with their overseas peers and exhibiting works by foreign artists in the country.
A special sideline event includes the exhibition of artworks in the fields of painting, photography, sculpture, installation, video art, music and performance, by artists from more than 20 countries.
“The festival has received more than 130 works and we are selecting from among them,” said the secretary of the event, Fereydoun Farbod.
The event aims to apply art to identify and empower the potential for enhancing the culture of tolerance and peace and to help remove people’s inherent cultural barriers that hinder the way to peace and peaceful coexistence in the world.
The festival was established in 2013, with the number of supporters exceeding 5,000 people globally. The forum has collaborated with several organizations, including the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, Iranian Artists Forum, Niavaran Cultural Foundation and Mojdeh, Vista and Shirin Art Gallery.
